Statistics Finland deployes Celesta mobile data collection solution provided by Identoi Ltd
Oulu 4.5.2012 – Statistics Finland, the only Finnish public
authority specifically established for statistics, has deployed a
new mobile data collection solution to gather the Consumer
Price Index (CPI) data. This new CPI mobile solution is based on
Celesta Mobile Enterprise Application Platform (MEAP) provided
by Identoi Ltd.
Statistics Finland has 44 interviewers collecting prices all over
Finland. Every month these interviewers collect the prices of
approximately 51 000 goods and services from around 2900
retail outlets. Based on this data, Statistics Finland publishes the
monthly Consumer Price Index, which is the most common
measure of inflation.
Mobile data collection solution for Consumer Price Index is
optimized for quick data entry with built in data validation. The
CPI application is built by Identoi Ltd on top of their Celesta
MEAP, ensuring quick customization. As a data collection
terminal the interviewers are using Nokia Smartphone with built-
in keyboard.
